The venues for Braemar Mountain Festival are all close to each other. We suggest the best place to park is either at your local accommodation or in the central car park off Balnellan Road located behind the village butchers shop. This car park also houses public toilets and an electric car charging point.
Download the Braemar Visitors Guide and Map for more details of the locations.
From the central carpark, the Village hall is a two minute walk on the Mar Road, Castleton Hall is above the car park and Braemar Mountain Sports one minute away at the junction with the Invercauld Road and Glenshee Road. St Margaret’s Church and the Invercauld Hotel (Colonel’s Bed is the function room in the hotel) are also on the Glenshee Road close to the road junction.
Braemar has two village halls! Braemar Village Hall is between the Co-op and the Gallery on Mar Road.
This is the venue for many of our talks, films and evening events.
There is limited road side parking, but plenty of spaces close by at the entrance to the Highland Games arena near Taste coffee shop, or in the village car park behind Braemar Butcher.
Castleton Hall is Braemar’s second village hall! It is located on the left hand side of the A93 if approaching from the south, just after Braemar Lodge. If approaching from the east, it is on the right on the main road, just after the turn off to the village centre.
There is limited parking at Castleton Hall – further spaces can be found in the car park as you turn into the village centre behind the Butchers. At this car park there is foot access to the hall from the ramped footpath at the back of the car park.
Castleton Hall is the venue for our Thursday and Friday night entertainment, ski tech sessions and the meeting place for many of our instructional events.
St Margaret’s was formerly a church but is now a performance and exhibition space.
Acting as the hub and mountain art exhibition space for the duration of the weekend. Drop in to view the photography, art and images on display.
Located on the main road through Braemar, there is very limited roadside parking, however the main village car park is situated on the other side of the road which is accessed from the road beside the Braemar Butcher. Toilets are also available in this car park.
Invercauld Hotel (Colonel’s Bed)
The Invercauld Hotel is located on the main road into the village. The Colonel’s Bed is the function room within the hotel. Enter the hotel through the main entrance and follow the Festival signs.
There is limited parking outside the hotel, but plenty available in the dedicated car park, 50 metres beyond the hotel toward the petrol station.
The Colonel’s Bed is the venue for talks and films.
The Shieling is located on Broombank Terrace, the road which runs beside the Highland Games Park which can be found at the west end of the village near Taste cafe.
Parking is available in the area at the entrance to the Highland Games Park and then it is a two minute walk to the Shieling.
The Shieling is the venue for our photography master classes.
Braemar Mountain Rescue Centre
Braemar Mountain Rescue Centre is located on the left as you head south on Glenshee road in the direction of Glenshee Ski Centre. Turn left on the driveway just before the Youth Hostel drive and follow it to the rescue centre (which is not visible from the main road).
There is no parking at the rescue centre, so if attending the tour please walk from the village, which takes just 5 mins.
The centre is the venue for the Mountain Rescue tour.
Braemar Primary School
Braemar Primary School is located on School Road. This is the first road on the left as you head south on Glenshee Road after leaving either Castleton Hall or St. Margaret’s Church.
There is roadside parking outside the school.
Braemar School is the venue for the adventure filming workshop
